Circus Fitness Flexibility & Conditioning

Switch circuits for circus! You’ll get fitter and stronger while hanging from trapezes, climbing silks, balancing on other people, and relishing all sorts of other playful challenges. Circus Fitness classes work for beginners and people who want to develop or maintain their circus abilities. These inexpensive sessions build your coordination and strength with a constant stream of fresh challenges, and there’s an aerobic aspect too. Our Flexibility and Conditioning classes are designed to turbo-charge your development in your arts. Do these, and everything else gets easier and looks better!

Circus Fitness

This a great first step if you fancy finding out what circus arts are about – find out where your talents lie! The training will also scale your fitness and skill level because you experience many different kinds of circus apparatus and techniques so you’re constantly training your brain as well as your body. Circus fitness is priced at £7 per 60-minute session because: • It’s inclusive, making it more possible for more people to enjoy the benefits of circus training. • It’s appealing to people whose focus is fitness with fun, without necessarily wanting to develop their skills in one particular area. • It’s an affordable way to raise your game in your chosen arts. We’ve had people of all shapes, sizes and ages gaining benefits from these classes.

Circus Flexibility

So you can do the splits? Great! But don’t try that on the aerial apparatus until you’ve built the strength in the right places or you could over-extend and rip your muscles or ligaments. And if you are about as flexible as an iron girder, we can change that in a way that won’t hurt and you will enjoy. You won’t find any forced movement here. Flexibility in circus is unlike other physical activities, and Aerial Edge has its own unique approach to it. The demands of aerial activities in particular are very different for your body and we’re all about safety so that you can sustain your training well into your old age. Our flex classes strengthen and stretch all the muscle groups, and focus on particular areas at different times. You can get a programme to maintain at home.

Circus Conditioning

Any circus activity will build your strength but conditioning is a different thing. You can develop muscles that support your movements in the gym. But that won’t prep your body for what you want it to do in your circus arts. Conditioning literally means creating the conditions you will be in when you’re performing aerial or ground-based acrobatic sequences of movements. But in conditioning class, certain movements are done in a controlled, step-by-step manner, which develops greater range in the movements. All of which means that when you into the wild with the apparatus and string it all together, you perform better in every way and you are much less likely to get injured.
