Why Circus Fitness?

We LOVE Circus Fitness and we find that students do too. It’s where it all begins for some people, because you each class has a bit of everything in it, and it builds the strength and muscle memory that you need for the different arts. It’s also fantastic if you’re going through rehab for injuries, and just for maintaining fitness so that you can do more of what you love, and do it better.

Because it’s like a gym circuits class, there’s plenty of variation so you don’t get bored (as if!) and recovery time is built in between activities. We’re always mindful of everyone’s experience level – the challenge and intensity levels are set to suit you. Check out the video below, which was shot in class this Tuesday.

In these classes, you’re not just getting fitter, you’re developing the muscles and skills needed to advance your aerial and acrobatic performance. We start where you are and get to the point where you can leap buildings in a single bound!

Yes, it’s like a circuits class insofar as you’re moving from one activity to another, but the variations in activities are innumerable. You’ll work through a range of pain-free motion that is suitable for you, increasing the load, movement and reps over the weeks.

We want you to enjoy circus throughout your life so protection for the joints is built into the instructions. Circus is exciting and challenging all by itself so there’s no need to push yourself too hard.

You’ll get all the satisfaction and support you need from going through the exercises with a group of people of all ages and abilities, and without the pressure of egos or fear of judgment. The feedback we get is that it’s a great vibe (and cool tunes too).

It’s so, so satisfying to see your progress. If you only do CF classes, you’ll notice that you can achieve more moves, and your form will become smoother and more aesthetically pleasing. If you’re coming to aerial or acro classes alongside CF, then your repertoire of tricks and moves will improve week by week.

Circus Fitness currently runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm to 7pm although we may add more to the schedule in the coming weeks. On Tuesdays you can bring your kids aged seven or older with you, so lack of babysitters isn’t an excuse!
